  • My toilet is backed up downstair, can I use the bathroom upstairs?
Yes BUT you cannot flush it because it will make your toilet downstairs overflow creating a larger mess. If you only have one toilet in your home please submit an emergency plumbing form.
  • How do I know if I have a plumbing emergency?
Plumbing emergencies can include issues like: Burst pipes or severe leaks A clogged toilet or drain that cannot be fixed with a plunger Loss of water pressure Water heater failure Flooding or significant water damage If you're unsure, it's always best to call a professional who can assess the situation immediately.
  • How much does a plumber cost?
The cost of plumbing services varies depending on the job, location, and complexity of the issue. For example, simple repairs might cost less than large-scale replacements. We provide free estimates and transparent pricing before starting any work. Contact us for a personalized quote.
  • How can I tell if my water heater needs to be replaced?
Signs that your water heater may need replacement include: Insufficient hot water Strange noises or leaking water from the unit Rusty or discolored water A significant increase in energy bills If you notice any of these signs, we recommend scheduling a water heater inspection.
  • What should I do if I have a clogged drain?
If you have a clogged drain, try the following steps: 1. Use a plunger to dislodge the blockage. 2. Pour a mixture of baking soda and vinegar down the drain, followed by hot water. 3. Use a drain snake to remove the clog. If these methods don't work, avoid using chemical drain cleaners and contact a professional plumber to safely clear the blockage.
  • What should I do if my toilet is constantly running?
If your toilet is constantly running, it could be due to a faulty flapper, fill valve, or overflow tube. First, check the flapper to ensure it is sealing properly. If it appears worn or damaged, replace it. Next, inspect the fill valve and adjust the float arm if necessary. If these steps don't resolve the issue, it may be best to call a professional plumber for further diagnosis and repair.
  • How can I prevent my pipes from freezing during winter?
To prevent your pipes from freezing during winter, follow these steps: 1. Insulate exposed pipes with foam pipe insulation. 2. Keep your home heated to at least 55°F (12°C). 3. Allow faucets to drip slightly to keep water moving. 4. Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate around the pipes. 5. Seal any cracks or openings in walls and foundations to prevent cold air from reaching the pipes.
  • How often should I have my plumbing inspected?
It's recommended to have your plumbing inspected at least once a year. Regular inspections can help identify potential issues before they become major problems, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of your plumbing system. During an inspection, a professional plumber will check for leaks, corrosion, water pressure, and the overall condition of your pipes and fixtures.
  • What are the signs of a hidden water leak?
Signs of a hidden water leak include: 1. Unexplained increase in your water bill. 2. Damp or discolored spots on walls, ceilings, or floors. 3. Musty odors or mold growth. 4. Reduced water pressure. 5. Sounds of running water when no fixtures are in use. If you suspect a hidden water leak, it's important to contact a professional plumber to locate and repair the leak promptly.
  • How do I add a new question & answer?
To add a new FAQ follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Add a new question & answer 3. Assign your FAQ to a category 4. Save and publish. You can always come back and edit your FAQs.
  • Should I supply my own fixtures?
It is not recommended. IF you are a homeowner when you supply fixtures for example: water heater, faucet, toilet, shower valve, kitchen/bathroom sink...etc) then you are responsible and must contact the maker of the fixture and are responsible to replace/fix. When you go through MGK Plumbing, we offer a one year warranty and will come for a free inspection of the fixture.
